When we pledge allegiance to our flag, we rise in the name of founding principles like “liberty and justice for all.” It is time HD-12 had a representative that stood up for this most basic premise that defines our nation.
Three years ago, we took a great stride forward in recognizing that all love is in fact love. We extended the same rights and privileges to all Americans regardless of sexual orientation. Millions of Americans were finally granted equal dignity before the law in a rebuke against hate and bigotry.
Today, our state is plagued with obstructionist actions that continue to try and stall history in its progress towards inclusivity and justice. I will fight everyday against this discrimination to ensure that all Pennsylvanians have access to the same privileges and benefits no matter who they love.
Rather than giving voice to bias and bigotry and disrespecting the highest ideals of marital union, I will proudly stand up for the rights of every Pennsylvanian. Diversity is what makes our commonwealth so great. We must listen and respect all people, even if they are different from ourselves.
Together, we can prove that there is no room for hate in our state. From the right to marriage to adopting children, every person deserves the same rights.
